Etched, carved, and/or painted glass can turn a regular mirror or piece of glass into a work of art.
The glass can be deep carved by sandblasting it in layers for a three dimensional effect. Using an abrasive medium (aluminum oxide) under pressure, patterns are carved into the piece of glass.
Etching is a process in which areas of the glass are removed to produce an obscured or frosted effect. The glass can be solid frosted with clear glass left as line definitions, or the glass can be shaded, which is a process where the sandblasting tapers off to create a more dimensional effect.
The artwork can then be airbrushed or painted if required. The paints can either be translucent for jewel like tones and luminescent colors, or opaque paints for a solid look and a more private feel.
